Come enjoy a delightful silversmith workshop at the Jungle Club!
Something a little different! This is a “Wax Ring Making” workshop that I am going to run and I am asking you beautiful people to come along for a little experiment (at a discounted price) with me as I learn how to teach this art form I often use in my own practice.
In this workshop we will be using a range of tools to carve out a beautiful wax ring. Wax is an incredibly malleable material so the shapes and details we will be able to make with it is exciting! It’s the original jewellery making process and existed thousands of years before silversmithing.
This will be the perfect relaxed setting for you to experiment with a new medium and learn some new skills!
You will explore techniques such as:
- Carving
- Melting
- Filing
- Sanding
- To shape and manipulate wax
- How to make a ring to size
- How to add detail and texture to wax
In this workshop you with come away with 1 piece of handcrafted jewellery that will last you a life time!
When: Sunday 17th of August
Where: The Jungle Club, 41 Sooning St, Nelly Bay, Magnetic Island
What Time: 9am - 1pm
How Much: $150 each (please note that this does not include the final cost of casting your ring - an invoice will be sent after we receive back your ring once cast in silver. Depending on how thick you have made your ring it will be between $40 - $200 of silver)
