Something a little different! This is a “Wax Ring Making” workshop that goes over the ancient technique of “lost wax carving”. With our finished designs being casted into solid sterling silver!
In this workshop we will be using a range of tools to carve out a beautiful wax ring. Wax is an incredibly malleable material so the shapes and details we will be able to make with it is exciting! It’s the original jewellery making process and existed thousands of years before silversmithing.
This will be the perfect relaxed setting for you to experiment with a new medium and learn some new skills!
You will explore techniques such as:
- Carving
- Melting
- Filing
- Sanding
- To shape and manipulate wax
- How to make a ring to size
- How to add detail and texture to wax
In this workshop you with come away with 1 piece of handcrafted jewellery that will last you a life time!
When: Sunday the 23rd of November
Where: At the Art Garage, Yungburra
What Time: 2pm - 6pm
How Much: $150 each (please note that this does not include the final cost of casting your ring - an invoice will be sent after we receive back your ring once cast in silver. Depending on how thick you have made your ring it will be between $40 - $120 of silver)
